Blog número uno!
Our new B.O.A Izzie, writes about her first week as the newest member of Team AC!
It’s the end of my first week and time for my first blog!!
Coming in on Monday was nerve wracking, being my first day at Advice Cloud entering into the dizzying world of Procurement, cloud technology, frameworks and the Digital Marketplace. Turns out I had nothing to worry about, although there’s a lot to learn about how AC do things, everyone was super welcoming and assured me that no question was too silly. I was set up at my desk with all my new gadgets, but perhaps most excitingly, I now have my own business cards (with my name spelt correctly!!).
The week started with me absorbing and taking in as much company background information as I could, I joined the team in meetings, learnt about the clients and came up against acronym’s galore! It felt like a lot to take in, but after sitting down in front of a few webinars and taking Advice Clouds online G-Cloud course, I feel like I’m getting to grips with the company through lots of notes, questions, and a few shoddily drawn diagrams.
On Thursday I went out for a coffee with Chris, where he talked to me more about the origins and culture of the company and his emphasis on putting employee’s interests and personal growth at the heart of Advice Cloud’s beliefs; his enthusiasm for it, is really inspiring and it really is a company that cares about its people! I was sent away to listen to Nikki Gatenby’s podcast on dreams and to think of my own, it was a relatively easy decision for me as I have always wanted to become fluent in Spanish (…or maybe on a more realistic level, just understand the basics) and to go travelling around Cuba with it.
Although I wouldn’t call myself a whiz kid yet, I feel like I’m getting used to the procurement lingo (TED, CAN, M.E.A.T, PIN, MISO all have a new meaning to me now). The industry and everyone at Advice Cloud are great and I can’t wait to get more involved with the work, meet the clients and really become a part of the Advice Cloud family.
