Selling Technology Services to the public sector
There are some great ways for suppliers selling technology services to get involved in the public sector market. So we've broken down some routes to consider.
As we’re now halfway through 2020, we wanted to break down some key ways that suppliers of technology services can get selling to government, the health sector and more. There are plenty of options available – some better than others, of course – that have big benefits to those that can meet the requirements.
So, without further ado, here are our top picks…
Technology Services 3
The Technology Services framework has been around for a while now, but with its second iteration (TS2) – currently live until January 2021 – it really hit its stride. As a way for public sector buyers to procure ICT services, from design and strategy to deployment. The services that go through this framework are usually bigger scale projects, as well as those with high security clearances.
With 146 suppliers on TS2, 90 of which are SMEs, there have been 145 buyers who have used it since it went live in 2017. That’s a total of over £270m worth of contracts!
The Lot structure for the upcoming TS3 includes Service Design & Consultancy, Service Integration & Management, Operational Services and Major Service Transformation Programmes. So if you fall into these categories, watch this space, as it’s due to open for applications this summer!
Digital Outcomes and Specialists
Also known as DOS, this framework currently in its fourth iteration has been established for quite a while now. Making up a large part of Crown Commercial Service’s Digital Marketplace, suppliers on the framework can bid on opportunities from central gov and the wider public sector.
There has been over £1.8bn of contacts awarded through DOS so far, so it has huge potential for suppliers of digital services to assist with public sector outcomes, digital teams and specialists or research facilities.
Digital Outcomes and Specialists 5 was due to open this summer for applications. However, with Covid-19, several frameworks were moved. DOS5 is now expected to open this September.
G-Cloud
It is no secret that we’re big fans of G-Cloud. Since its inception, it’s had over £6.1bn go through it and has championed the public sector working with SMEs and smaller companies. Although largely an ‘off-the-shelf’ style framework for Cloud software and products, its Cloud Support Lot provides a great way for suppliers to make their digital services available. Obviously this differs from DOS and Technology Services in that it should be Cloud solutions only here, but its value is huge.
G-Cloud 12 is currently open for applications, closing on the 20th July 2020. So don’t miss out!
These are just a handful of the ways that suppliers can get involved. We recommend doing some research into these frameworks and checking out which ones you’re eligible for. If you’re not on them, when you could be, then you’re missing out on potential business!
