Technology Services 3 supplier engagement
Yesterday, we attended the Technology Services 3 supplier engagement meeting to get some feedback on the current iteration of the framework - and insights into the next.
As CCS admits, Technology Services 2 had a lot of successful elements – but it also had a lot that needs to be changed or updated. In this session, we took part in valuable discussions with suppliers and framework leads about where it’s going.
How can the Technology Services framework improve?
In discussions, suppliers noted that the top three things liked about Technology Products 2 were the possibility of direct award, the broad scope of technology available within the framework and its consistency. Disliked amongst attendees was that direct award was not available in all Lots within the framework and that direct award limited competition.
The question was also asked on what CCS should include within the scope of services of the upcoming Technology Services 3 (TS3). Suggestions included Cyber Security, Information Security and Digital Delivery Capabilities.
And what shouldn’t be included? Anything cloud or web based – as buyers and suppliers can use G-Cloud for these technologies. In a similar vein, professional services should be kept on frameworks such as Digital Outcomes and Specialists. One of the key takeaways here is that more clarity of what is offered through Technology Services is needed from CCS and to make it stand out from other frameworks. It will be interesting to see if any changes to the scope of technology are announced with TS3!
What about pricing and value?
During discussions about pricing within the framework, suggestions included adding social value elements into the mix, as well as volume-based pricing.
With many attendees also stating a desire for the terms and conditions to be more open and transparent, and to be similar to those of the G-Cloud framework.
This was a good event to be involved with to get some thoughts on the next iteration of the Technology Services framework, straight from suppliers’ mouths. The main thing that looks certain is that suppliers want more clarity for Technology Services 3. With this early engagement, CCS are trying to help suppliers shape future procurement routes. By reviewing early now and being prepared, they can make the changes to make the process even easier for suppliers and buyers.
