My first week in THE CLOUD!
Our new Marketing Executive Luca has been put on the spot to write about his first week. Thankfully the review is good. Phew! Thanks and welcome Luca!
When I was asked to write an article related to my first working week I found this interesting. It sounded like my opinion and my personality was important. I was right (so far!).
My first working day started at 1pm and was more of an introduction. I had the pleasure to meet a part of the team (some are enjoying a well deserved holiday!) and to quickly get used to my workstation.
I understood Advice Cloud operates in a particular niche market and at the end of that day my head was full of new information. A bunch of new words were floating in my head! It will definitely take me time to get used to “public sector procurement speak”.
My first real working day was the second one. Marketing Manager Emina was already there to welcome me with a mug of coffee. Definitely needed!
And, the coffee was followed by….. DRUM ROLL! A meditation session! I know, it’s hard to believe, but we do have meditation classes on Tuesdays. It was an amazing experience and I felt so at peace afterwards.
After a morning of getting to know the company a bit further around noon we all went to Fatto a Mano, an amazing pizza place literally behind the corner. Another surprise. A company lunch? At a pizza place! This day was turning out to be brilliant! We had amazing food and I started to get to know the team a bit better. Behind all the professionalism, what struck me the most was that everybody seemed to really care about each other.
That evening I was invited to a Wired Sussex Networking Event. I never turn down an opportunity to chill with a drink while chatting to likeminded people. Ella, Advice Cloud Business Operations Assistant, and I headed down to the venue. After some Dutch courage, I was able to mingle and even explain what Advice Cloud does in a semi coherent way. It was a lot of fun and we also gained some great business connections.
I had quite a few introductions into the various company doings during my first week. But what made me understand Advice Cloud the most is reading the Dreams blog written by our MD Chris. I could see that what is behind this company is a genuine care for people. Chris also asked me about my dream and I spent about 30 minutes reflecting on what to say. In the end, I went with scuba diving and visiting Asia.
I have been working here only few days and I already feel part of a family who sincerely cares about me.I really can’t complain about anything, this new journey started at its best!
